Abstract, landscape, seascape, angel and figurative art
I moved to Cornwall 25 years ago and was inspired by the beautiful landscape to paint what I saw - the windswept trees, the stunning coastline and turquoise water. After working for the NHS for 15 years as an OT and raising a family, I took the plunge to be a full-time self employed artist.
Working in oil and mixed media, my current abstract work is a unique expression of freedom bound by minimal use of colour yet boundless in its imagination.
Like many artists, my work carries an emotional element which reflects my description of the process of painting as simultaneously cathartic, meditative, explorative and exhilarating.
I now exhibit in galleries both locally and from London to Edinburgh and have enjoyed mixed and solo shows in my former home town of Penzance and in Brighton and Cardiff.
My other collections of work are of local landscapes and contemporary angels, all using the familiar earthy palette of browns, cyans and gold. Another collection fuses the ancient with the modern, inspired by William-Adolphe Bouguereau a 19th century French academic painter who is best known for ‘The Birth of Venus’, I paint modern interpretations of classical scenes. These were featured in ‘The Times’. This lead to contemporary interpretations of 'The Last Supper' and 'The Creation of Adam'. Two large pieces of work that remain for display only.

I work in this beautiful octagonal cabin, which has views across the valley towards Bude (Cornwall, UK). With light streaming in from all sides and the peaceful surroundings, it is a perfect place to create.
Recently, I have been inspired to create 5 x 7" miniature paintings - each set with a different theme. Past themes include 'Alice' (In Wonderland), based on the Lewis Carroll book. I happened upon the little old book at a car boot sale, I bought it for 50p and proceeded to tear out pages of the images and writing to form collage on gold leaved heavy paper. A week or so later, someone suggested that it might well have been a first edition and worth 2.5 million pounds!
I'm currently working a set entitled 'Grief'. The situation in the Middle East is close to my heart. Old maps of Palestine on gold leaved heavy paper is the basis of this theme.
'Alice' set is of 40 originals. Signed and mounted. £95 plus postage each.
'Grief' set is of 30 originals. Signed and mounted. £95 plus postage each.
Limited edition prints of my landscape, angel and abstract work are available at £215 each plus postage. All available direct from this website and in selected galleries.
